Observation

by birdsong @ Saturday, Jul. 19, 2008 - 09:15:41 pm

People are fascinating. Weird, even.

Around the corner from my house is a 'club/hall for hire' that is often used for wedding receptions. By chavs, mostly, who all seem to hire the same 'disc jockey' to play YMCA and I Will Survive, as well as those ridiculous Madness, Grease and Abba 'medleys. What's wrong with the whole song??
I walked past the door this evening, and there were about 20 people outside smoking. I returned 10 minutes later and they had ALL gone.

Does that mean they all go outside for a smoke AT THE SAME TIME?
:??:

Mela

by birdsong @ Saturday, Jul. 19, 2008 - 09:19:07 am

9th Annual mela festival in Hoglands Park today. We are experimenting with a stand of our own, although I don't expect to do much business. But its great to have a presence.
Proud day for WD yesterday - the 4x 2m by 1m dispaly banners have come in and they look amazing. Hamble Valley map came in from the printers - looks great and smells even better. Signed off the new edition of the cycle map too.

Wendy Chambers

My copy of Touch - Merid*ans 2 arrived this morning. Such a wonderful piece of 'audio art' - a real bargain at only £12 from Vinyl Tap. Totally beyond me why people don't just look around a bit before buying stuff from eBay. A copy was sold on that site for over £50 in April. Lazy lazy

Includes an early piece by experimentl American composer wendy mae Chambers, whose "Suite for Toy Piano" i am currently listening to.

30 harps is good too.

I love new discoveries.

Not tonight

by birdsong @ Sunday, Jul. 13, 2008 - 12:12:25 am

Tonight's inspiration from Michael Sheen as Kenneth Williams has left me exhausted and scared. How is it that I relate so much to this man?
Tonight I have said a painful goodbye to Josefine, discarded when I met Izolde that fateful evening in June. Kissed and dismissed. She could not live long, too much in her could I see of others.

Katherine remains by my side always. The battle continues....

Feather, Size C

by birdsong @ Thursday, Jul. 10, 2008 - 09:17:28 pm

Mirfee beer nights are always occasions for sharing music. I have prepared a cocktail of ten albums for him this evening. Packaged with this spontaneous prose:
Cups aligned. Drifting. There was this shoe. Broadcast from bug powder radio. Eyes of Seraphim. Half quivering, he fell, and each witnessed contravention of the Notice can be deemed a seperate offense. Whither the invisible birds? It would be good to raise some money. Lingerie boutique. Time is not linear. She moves like smoke. Her name was Maacah. Blind. Anorexic. We hate you (little girls). First cuts in the financial sector - deep cuts. Blood. First cunt is indeed a pest. Your sweetness is my weakness. Within four days. The liar. Lyre, lyre. Were you there when Orpheus fell? How do you know, are there pictures? Can we choose? Films for understanding. Icing for joy, just as our Father Tortoise. Moving slowly. Do you want fries with that? The Janus Effect. Humility is the only way to resolve the contradictions of leadership. Another rat. The firebolt. Endemic British race of the northern European Willow Grouse. recorded in Munich. 1983. Sweden’s Carlova wore a brown double breasted sleeveless jacket over a sparkling white shirt and mauve leggings. Buy. Rent. Hype. Sometimes I felt lovely. It’s reasonable to suggest that any image will move if you look at it for long enough. Is it cold in her? Optimum. Optima. Didot. Recycled. The Beagle has stashed the herion in a lottery ticket. Fire. Burn various types of plastic in the projector. The whole family has evolved. We are spirits, in the material world.Fluid = action. Sound = reaction. There is a fundamental difference. Light. Credo, in unum Deum. Watershed. Watership. Up, sighed. Down. You will note from the above that Latin, unlike modern English, does not have a silent “e” as the final syllable of any word.

Jack The Ripper

by birdsong @ Friday, Jul. 04, 2008 - 09:26:51 pm

I just watched television. Bizarre.
An hour long 'dramatised documentary' about the new investigation being carried out into the behavioural and psychological profile of 'Jack the Ripper'.
An interesting theme and a fascinating subject.

But

There were THREE advert breaks in the programme and each of the four parts started with a summary of what had happened so far, what the programme was about and who the main characters were. And then each time a person re-appeared their profile was repeated and their role in the case described. Half the reconstructions were repeated twice each.

I felt patronised, sickened by the overindulged graphic violence and bored by the repetition of information. The programme probably could have been fitted into a half-hour slot easily.

I know who she is, and what case she's investigating? Why are they telling me AGAIN??
That's what TV is like these days.

FUCK it then. That's precisely why I cannot watch.
