Four CDRs turned up today in a package that I expected to contain two.
Alongside the much-anticipated and grateful-I-am-thankyou-very-much Mr Puddle Budd and Guthrie pair "After the Night Falls" and "Before the day Breaks" I now also have a second copy of Pulp's "We Love Life" (produced by the Scott Walker) and a mysterious offering entitled "Sandpaper Green" by Neuphonius.
This doesn't even appear on myshite, so I have no idea what to expect...
I am SO looking forward to hearing the Budd/Guthrie work. Both masters of the ambient, the Moon and The Melodies from 1986 hinted at the way theat GUthrie's blanketwash of tremelo guitar provides a perfect backdrop from Budd's sombre, simple melodies - rather like the way the indigo sky complements the twinkling of stars or the glow of a bright moon.
Perfect way too chill out on a full moon, actually, after a stressful day interviewing.
