Sunshine and cyborgs

Great day in Romsey with the family yesterday. We took the train up, to give the children something different to experience and I think most of them loved. Walk from there down through the town via King John's House (and of course obligatory unch in the tea shoppe) and then round the back of the Abbey to the War Memorial Park.

Received a brand new edition of The Lord of The Rings, and £20 from the folks that I have today put towards some new clothing. Shock, horror!

My colleague called an emergency meeting in the vestry tonight, to help her get her head around the accounts that we are taking over. I am encouraged, as we have realised the accounts themselves are accurate, honest and up-to-date - its just the method that is in question. neithe rof us can make head or tail of the books and working out how the results have been derived is almost impossible. Bizarrely enough, I've been invited out for a beer or three tomorrow evening with our departing treasurer/administrator who has come in fr alot of bad press lately. Guilty as charged too of course. My excuse is that I haven't really got to know him very well, and have been rather too quick to judge based on the negative and unhelpful comments of others.
Its a hotbed of political intrigue and gossip, this church of mine. none of which is very helpful.
In defence of IR, I am quite appalled at the lack of support he's been getting lately and he is struggling with insecurity an lots of personal issues. I think he has every right to feel put upon, and could be justified in his resentment of the way he has been treated.

Sad. We are all trying to do God's work after all. Can it not be done more harmoniously?
