Why are 'friends' eclectic?

by birdsong @ Saturday, Sep. 02, 2006 - 01:09:47 am

Trx has a friend with kids the same age as two of ours.
She came to visit this afternoon.
Get on well - she's really nice.

This friend has a friend. Her friend is married and has two daughters, one of whom is the same age as oour sons.
With me so far?

This friend's friend (who I shall call Sarah, because that's her name…) has a husband, who went fishingat a lake about 10 miles from here last weekend. Nothing odd there. He does it often.
As evening approaches, he starts to feel hungry but has no food with him.
He phones his wife (Sarah). Neither Sarah nor the fisherman drive and have no car.
Sarah 'pops round' to our friend's house and asks if she will take her, in their car, to KFC to buy some tea for her husband, the fisherman.

????

She agrees (I know…) but when they arrive at the KFC locally it is shut for no reason. So Sarah phone sher husabnd to ask what he would like instead.

?????

They drive to McDonald's and then out to the lake, arriving about an hour after the first phone call. When they arrive the husband is no longer hungry becasue his mate (who has a car) went and 'picked somethng up'.
However

??????

Could they just pop to the cash point to pick up some money to pay his mate for his dinner?

1. Why go fishing without taking food?
2. Why expect your wife to help when you know she has no transport?
3. How can you ask a friend, with young kids at home, to do this kind of favour?
4. Why do this kind of favour?
5. Why not ring back to say it's OK, you have got something to eat?
6. Why not wait and owe your mate a few quid until you have it?

Do I live in the real World at all??

yes you do, but for some they do not, and can only see past their own nose, if we are lucky! its so many moments like these that just make me want to nothave anything to do with certain people in my ownlife whose actions have no commonsense or that they rely on people with no thought to others. I hear you. Especially being a new mum myself, there is no time for such drama, and it is too tiring
