Riga?Tallinn? Vilnius?

by birdsong @ Tuesday, Apr. 04, 2006 - 11:23:39 pm

I just got back in from a pub quiz in Romsey.
Random - but good fun. Haven't done this for at least a year, and I was appalled at the amount of stuff I didn't know.
OK, so we got the thitry four out of forty world capital cities right (some things I just remember, which is sad) but the Music Round was, to put it bluntly, embarrassing.
7 out of twenty. Seven??
John Peel's real surname?
I JUST READ his biography at Christmas FFS. I could NOT remember.
And the Number one UK album 25 years ago this week?
I went for Dare - then realised of course that "Don't You Want Me" was a Christmas number one! How stupid did I feel?
The rest was either classical - at which I am sadly ignorant - or modern pop which again has passed me by. The KAiser Chiefs lead singer?
Then we got two out of ten on the 'collective nouns' page. But did score a full 20 on the pictures. Like everyone else.

Well done to Anthony for organising that, raising money for Women For Women Charity cycle ride across India, and thanks to Nancy and Iain for the invitation to take part. You really need to listen to your wife sometimes though, mister. She does know somethings after all... ;-)

Stick Girl wa sin there, looking amazing. What is it with me?
My taste is inclined towards thinner and thinner women all the time.
ALL the time.
Is there no peace?

The temperament of artists, and brick walls

Things go from wierd to actually quite depressing over at myspace as far as Foxx is concerned.
There is now an 'announcement' of sorts that all John's back catalogue is set to be re-issued over the next 18 months. Again?? Its only 5 years since everything was remastered and those versions are still widely available.
The re-issues are going to include "unreleased material" and "alternative versions", but this has all come from Steve M and has nothing to do with RH, who it seems is once again being left out of the information loop.
He will be very annoyed. Perhaps I'll give him a call this week and chat about stuff again.
I'm still working hard on the media archive.
One thing I can see almost inevitable over the next couple of years is a biography of Foxx by Malins, and if at all possible I want to pre-empt that with my own.
Which means I really need to get writing.
I think as much research as possible has been done, but I will discuss with RH the possibility of a collaboration with him so that we can really get something together. He's got skwillions of photos and stuff, as well as access to people in high places at Serendipity and I think even John's personal photo archive.
I expect to get a DVD thru the post this week with a VH1 interview on from October 2001 where John talks briefly about his digital artowrk.
This I will exchange for a bootleg or two when I get round to sending the list off to Robert.

Nothing yet from the Simon bros. in response to my sending them the US tour bootlegs.
Bl**dy artists!!
