Planning the Games

The other girl, who spent all evening with her knees drawn up under her chin hugging a cushion, is called Trx. She's incredibly tall and about as thin as half a stick, with the most amazing eyes. More about her later...

That's my diary entry from February 1993 when I first met Trx at a dinner party in Pointout Road to introduce everyone who was going on That Holiday to Ireland a few weeks later.
I recall it with crystal clear vision - 13 years ago today, Trx and I woke up in the same bed for the first time. In the remote village of CastleGregory on the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry.
John and Dave had driven Jenny's car out of sight around behind the house, for an April Fool, and she was screaming at them, having not found the joke in the least bit funny.
The date has even more significance than our wedding anniversary for me.
It was more life-changing.

The angels are up there one night up there, with a hand of cards and a beer, shuffling things around"Right, let's see then. He wants these children to be born here, at this time. This guy is to be their father, but needs some spritual development first. And this church will need his experience, at this time, when this happens. So if I take him from...here... and put him into this situation here at this point in time...."
"But I've got this woman in mind to be the mother of these kids?"
"OK. What's she up to in say... 93?"
"Hmmm? If I take her from ...here... and. Ah."
" Hang on. Look. There's a gap here, a year when she's not ready for that course." So if I can work it so that this woman who knows both of them can be put ...here (Oxford) at this time. How can we get her together with him tho.??
Calling Oxford? yeah, hi. Listen, we need to do this this and this, what have you got about this time. Be cool if we could tie in someone with a bit of history there too?"
"Of course - the Social work thing. Yes, and - what's that? Did he. With, whatsherface - Katherine? Fanastic. Thanks"
"Right, got it. She goes here. Meets him so I then get him invited on her holiday. Then play this card [a wry smile - they all laugh]...
"Explode everything, but at the end of it bring these two together."
"Nice one! Then because she already knows Southampton because of her relationship with this man...That sets up something into which we can bring these children."
"Sorted. [they raise thir glasses] How are you getting on with Norwich, over there...?"

The retum of Gedge

Wow - loads of German stuff in my log-in window tonight?
This place is getting weird.
Go Pro suddenlysounds a good idea?

I didn't realise how cold I was unitl it stopped raining, or how wet I was until I got home.
I have wrung the water out of my socks, and had to change all my clothes.
Dripping wet and frozen now I know, but I have toast so all will shortly be OK.
Beers with Mike of course, and a friend of his calle dTom.
Tom has a two year old son called Wilf.
Now THAT is a COOL name.
I'll try it out tomorrow.
Walk for miles as usual in the pissing rain, talking of Numan, and The Cure, Depeche Mode, the Velvets, comedy, books and kids.
They both have sons.
I'm committed now to catch up with the Jagged tour at Portsmouth on 3rd May, and then the Wedding present at the Joiners on 28th.
That will be an amazing gig. Have seen them twice before and it was awesome then.
Nobody's Twisitng Your Arm,
My Favourite Dress
Felicity
Unfaithful
"I just decided I don't love you anymore"
etc
But I can't persuade Mike to come with me to see Foxx at Scala.
And I can't do Brighton.

My head is still dripping water down my back.
Walked up through Bassett to stand again on the motorway bridge at Chilworth watching the lights in the rain.
And the dark.
Very dark.

So I came in and put Judy on. Live at Carnegie Hall.
If I didn't know better I'd be crying now.
